Written by Justin Hopkins Year after year Florida produces some of the most elite athletes in the country. There are schools like Pahokee, Miami Central, Booker T. Washington that produce as many D-1 players as the entire state of Oregon some years. One team that finds itself pretty loaded with talent is Monsignor Pace High School in Miami, FL. DuckTerritory first brought you stories about 2010 recruits Deandre Johnson and Issac Dixon and their interest in the University of Oregon. 2011 offers another 5'11", 170 lb athlete with a 4.5 40 named Jabari Gorman that is also keeping an eye on the Oregon program.Jabari is a two way standout playing on both sides of the ball as a wide out and defensive back. Being in the class of 2011 he claims no offers yet, but mentions that several schools are highly interested and will contact him more after Sept 1st, the first day 2011 recruits can legally be offered by the NCAA. "No I don't have an offer from Oregon yet, but I'm hoping to hear more from them," said Gorman. "I really like the school, the coaching staff, and the fact that they have a lot of key players. I also like that they are always looking for the best, I love to compete against the best. I would love to take a visit up there, I haven't been to Oregon and I would love to visit." Recently this past spring Miami Pace held a scrimmage against Booker T. Washington. Gorman had several tackles and vicious hits in the game. He also plays wide receiver for his team and is a big time threat every time he touches the ball. "I like to play both positions, but I really love to have the ball in my hands. Some of my strengths on the field are rising my team up, being a ball hawk on defense, basically just doing whatever it takes to win. One thing I would like to work on is coming out of my backpedal quicker. I'm pretty good in man to man coverage, I really like playing man to man." With Oregon being so far away from Miami, distance will be a factor for Jabari's family. "My mother and my grandparents will help me with my decision. They would like me to stay close if possible, but they told me to get out and see some new things. I really just want to go somewhere I can feel at home, like I never left." Right now Gorman has a few early interest schools, but no top 5 or favorites yet. "Right now it's mainly Florida, USF, FSU, and Oregon . I've heard the most from them and would like to learn more about each. But, I'm open to anyone right now, those are just a few early standouts is all." Duckterritory will check back in with Jabari and check out how his junior season fares. This kid will be one to watch out for in the class of 2011.
