LegauxThe Duck coaching staff has been working really hard in developing a type of following in the southern part of the United States in hopes that down the road kids will start naming Oregon their leaders. Oregon’s efforts in Lousiana have started to appear as Dual-Threat Quarterback Munchie Legaux from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans has recently tabbed a surprise school his favorite.

“Oregon is on top right now. They are my favorite school and sit a top my board at the number 1 spot,” says Legaux.

DuckTerritory.com recently spoke with this star QB about a month ago and at the time he didn’t name any school a favorite but things have changed.

“I’ve looked more into the Oregon program on the internet and looking at the stuff they send me and speaking with the coaching staff has made me realize they are my top school. I really like the coaches they have at Oregon. I speak mostly with Coach Kelly and the new QB coach, Mark Helfrich, the most,” says Legaux.

While Legaux doesn’t have a time table of when he’d like to decide yet he did share his top 3 schools.

“Right now I am looking at Oregon, Michigan, and Ole Miss. Each school says I could come in and play early and that is important to me. I also like the fact that each school runs a spread. Oregon’s spread offense is crazy and that fits my style. I am looking for an offense that fits my style of play,” explained Legaux.

Legaux completed 69-percent of his attempts for 1,784 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 435 yards and 10 touchdowns.  He was District Offensive Player of the Year and also plays basketball and runs track.

ESPN/Scouts, Inc. Evaluation:
Legaux is an exciting dual-threat quarterback and athlete. He has redeeming, deceptive skills as a passer and is a good enough overall athlete to move to wide receiver if he does not work out under center. He has good height and a lanky, lean frame to grow into. Settles his feet quickly and shows good poise in the pocket. Mechanics need some refinement, but he possesses a quick release, although low, with good wrist snap. Has a whip-like, sidearm delivery that negates his height, but the ball comes out with some pop on underneath and intermediate throws. Shows good zip on shorter throws. Has flashed the ability when his feet are set to make some very difficult throws on the deep comeback, skinny post and downfield vertical routes. Overall accuracy is entirely dependent on his footwork. He will spray the ball around a bit if he is unsettled. Can buy extra time with his feet and ability to feel the pressure, step up and avoid the rush. Shows impressive initial quickness to escape the rush and possesses lanky wiggle in his change-of-direction skills when on the move. Can cut and make people miss and shows good top end speed for the position. Throws the football very well on the run to both sides and has shown the ability to throw off balance when he has to. Legaux is the perfect fit for the shotgun, spread offense where he can use his athleticism both as a passer and runner to be at his best. Overall, Legaux is green as a passer, but shows upside to develop nicely in the right scheme. Good prospect.

Evaluating QBs before you get them in hot water is such a crapshoot. The best way I've found is how good their name is (Peyton Manning & Joe Montana > Sage Rosenfels & Jake Delhomme), and it is damn hard to beat a name like Munchie Legaux.

Munchie would be a huge get for the Ducks! I can just see him "eating up" the rest of the PAC-10. Nice looking kid too!My hope is that he decides early because I'm so tired of the drama queens (Pryor, Brown, et al). Munchie, the best is yet to come and you will be the reason! I see him as another Dixon, but a little sturdier.

Go Ducks!

Wow! Whatta deal. We can make Munchie a welcome member of our community here in Eugene. How is your last name pronounced? I'm thinking, lcjdw Leh-Goh, is that right? This is a wonderful spot Mr. Munchie, good values, beautiful and personal. Hope to see you soon. Our prayers are with you and your family.
