OL Christian Westerman up to six offers

The trend of big time players coming out of the state of Arizona has been gaining momentum in the past few years. The class of 2010 has quite a few top tier prospects and the future looks to be even brighter. The class of 2011 has one of the top offensive line prospects in the country in Hamilton High School’s, Christian Westerman.

The uber talented Westerman is a 6’5”, 282 lb sophomore was a starter for the state champion Huskies this past season. He is currently attending the University of Texas’ football camp and hopes to walk away with an offer. “I really like Mack Brown and Coach Mac, the OL coach is great too.”

To this point, the star sophomore already had 6 offers but that list will multiply dramatically over the next year or so. To date, both in state schools, Cal, Oregon State, Washington and Stanford have all extended offer to me. I would love to hear from some Big Ten and SEC schools. My mom’s family is all over the south so they could see me play if I were to go down there for school. Auburn and Alabama are two schools I would like to hear from, along with Nebraska, Michigan and Ohio State.”

Right now Christian lists his strengths as his athleticism and quickness. “I have long arms so I am able to get a quick punch and get the defensive lineman off balance. I have above average strength and stamina. I just love to hit and knock people down. I love it so much that I have dreams about it.” If you are a sophomore in high school and you have already cleared 400 pounds on the bench press I think it is fair to say that strength is one of your best attributes.

Among all the teams who have been getting in on him early, Oregon hasn’t been a major player to this point. “Other than questionnaires and camp invites I haven’t heard a whole lot from them.” When asked if he had any interest in the Duck program, his response was, “Yes, they are a good program over the last several years. They are a program on the rise that has been in some big bowl games recently. I also love to fish and love the outdoors so that would be a great place for me.”

DuckTerritory asked him where he thought he may wind up. “At this point it is real early so I am wide open. The Pac-10 is one of the best conferences in the nation but I am not biased towards it. I would consider playing anywhere in the country that has good balance of academics, football tradition and all other things. I want to be part of a terrific program where I can create success as a student-athlete and have the most success in all areas of my life now and in the future.”

As of right now Christian Westerman is one of the rising stars in high school football who has an incredible future in front of him. Not only is he a star on the football field, but also in the classroom. Christian seems to have a great grasp on things and that has set him up to have a successful future wherever he winds up.

It is real early on in the process for Christian Westerman but he is definitely one to watch. You will most likely find him toward the top of any ranking system for the class of 2011. As he begins his journey down the recruiting trail, Duck Territory will be there to update you as he updates things, takes visits and begins to narrow things down.
