Written by Brandon Oliver In the past recruiting cycle, the Oregon Ducks recruiting staff hit the junior college ranks as hard as they ever have and came away with an impressive haul. Not only did they fill needs at wide receiver and linebacker but they loaded up on the all important defensive line. In all, the staff did a great of job of bringing in depth and immediate impact type guys. The staff dipped into relatively new territory this year. In the past, City College of San Francisco and many other California junior colleges were top destinations for the Oregon coaches. This year however, the staff extended their reach out to the state of Kansas to Butler Community College. After a long, roller coaster of recruitment, the staff was able to reel in the highly touted Tyrece Gaines at the all important wide receiver position. There was another player at Butler the staff was hard after and that was versatile defensive lineman, Zac Clark. Duck Territory caught up with Clark as he approaches his first season of division one football. The following is what he had to say… Duck Territory- When exactly did you get to Oregon? Zac Clark- I transferred here in January of this year --------------- DT- How has your time at Oregon been so far off the field? ZC- I like it here. I like the rain so it doesn't bug me at all. The people here are all nice and the town is a great place --------------- DT- How about your time on the field in practice? ZC- They work us hard here. We always say that we want to be the hardest working team in America and we approach practice and workouts with that attitude every day --------------- DT- How do you fit in to what the coaches want to do? ZC- I'm a versatile player and so I can do whatever they want me to do, inside or outside. --------------- DT- What do you bring to the team as far as a player? You are a little more mature physically and mentally so how does that benefit you and the team? ZC- So far I've just been working hard and trying to lead by example. I never like it when new guys come in and talk too much so I'm just trying to fit in and show what I can do instead of talking about what I can do. --------------- DT- What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? ZC- I would say that my strengths are that I'm a smart player and I'm technically sound most of the time. My weakness right now is just my lack of knowledge of the new system here. --------------- DT- What are your goals for this year and your time at Oregon? ZC- Rose Bowl(s) --------------- DT- What are you most excited about as far as your career at Oregon goes? ZC- Trying to win the Rose Bowl --------------- DT- What led you to ultimately choose Oregon? ZC- I felt comfortable here and at Louisville, but I chose Oregon because the team is better. --------------- DT- What has been the adjustment been like from Junior College football to D1? ZC- JC really got me ready for the day in the life of a college athlete. The biggest difference is just the amount of workouts that we do here. --------------- DT- What makes this season a success for Zac Clark? ZC- For me it would be contributing in a team that plays in the Rose Bowl --------------- DT- Anything you want to say to Duck fans or anyone else out there? ZC- Just that this is going to be a fun and exciting year for any Duck fan out there. DuckTerritory would like to welcome Zac Clark to the Oregon program and wish him the best during his time at Oregon. Hopefully Duck fans will all be witnesses to him achieving his goal of reaching the Rose Bowl at least once in his time at Oregon.

Anyone have any thoughts on JC kids that could come in late like Masoli did last year?
