Written by Brandon Oliver Linebacker was a big target for the Oregon coaching staff this past recruiting cycle. Turns out, the staff as a whole has a good shot because they hit the collective bullseye. Boseko Lokombo, Bryson Littlejohn and Michael Clay all committed to the staff over a three week period around the holidays. These new additions on top of the young and talented stars the Ducks already have in place at the LB position, give the Ducks their deepest and most talented line backing corp ever. Yesterday, DuckTerritory caught up with BoLo and now we introduce you to another impact player in Michael Clay. The 6 ft, 215 lb star is preparing for life in Oregon and he checked in with us to give you a look into his thoughts as he begins a new chapter in his life. Ladies and gentlemen…Michael Clay… Michael Clay- It feels great. At the same time it’s weird because I don’t get to see really good friends on the daily like I am used to. ---------- DT- When do you plan on making it to Eugene? MC-I will be arriving in Eugene on June 20th. ---------- DT- Current height and weight? MC- 6 ft, 216lbs ---------- DT- Plans for the summer? MC- Just workout with the team and take some summer school courses. ---------- DT- Do you have plans to redshirt or you do you plan on getting on the field early? MC- I really don’t know right now. We will see how this summer goes. ---------- DT- Have the coaches discussed which position you will be worked at to start? MC-I will probably be working at the sam and will positions with the defense ---------- DT- Best memories from high school on the field? MC- Winning our section against a league rival with a shutout. ---------- DT- What was the deciding factor in choosing Oregon? MC- I really like the campus and what Oregon had to offer. Also the last couple of years, Oregon has really been a powerhouse in the Pac-10. ---------- DT- What are you most looking forward to about college? On and off the field… MC- I am really looking forward to meeting new people. Also just having that college experience everyone talks about. ---------- DT- Anything you are nervous or uneasy about with the move and the transition to college ball? MC- The move won’t be a challenge. But college football transition I think for everyone is a huge jump. I feel like I will be able to adjust pretty well. ---------- DT- Do you know what number you will wear? MC- No, not yet. ---------- DT- Do you know your major yet? MC- I want to major in business. ---------- DT- Anything you want to say to the coaches, future teammates and fans at Oregon? MC- Just that they should be ready for the next 4 to 5 years. We are going to be winning a lot of games!
